Just when you thought the Spring Blossom Fest that is coming to Monster Hunter World couldn’t get any better, Capcom announces the release of a new weapon: the Wyvern Ignition Greatsword.
This new weapon is the winner of the community Weapon Design Contest, and the win is definitely well-deserved. Featuring what seems to be some sort of propulsion system, this Great Sword looks like a certified Deviljho killer.
Not many details are known at the moment, such as the Wyvern Ignition’s stats, element, and associated Event Quest, but we’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
UPDATE: The Wyvern Ignition Greatsword’s stats have been leaked via Chinese players that have somehow gotten their hands on it already. Here’s what we know now:
This weapon will have a base version that can be upgraded one level into the final version (just like the Deviljho greatsword). Since we all know that the final upgrade is all that matters, I’ll only list those stats.
- Rarity 7 Weapon
- Attack: 1008
- Affinity: -15%
- Element: Fire (510)
- Slots: 2x Level 1
- Sharpness: White
Since these numbers have all but been confirmed, it’s safe to say that once this drops it will instantly outclass all other greatswords in the game (with either elementless or awakened element skill).
The Wyvern Ignition Greatsword will be available during the Spring Blossom Fest that kicks off on April 6 th. Mark your calendars.

One of the most common gripes that long-time fans have with Monster Hunter World is the lack of diverse and unique weapon designs in contrast to previous entries in the series. It appears that Capcom is taking note of our suggestions, and the Wyvern Ignition Greatsword is assuredly a step in the right direction.
